About Monteray Shores

Corolla, on the Northern Outer Banks, remained relatively isolated until 1984 when the state extended NC 12 from the Dare County line through Corolla to the four wheel drive beach.

Real estate development soon followed. In 1989, Robert DeGabrielle filed Articles of Incorporation for the Monteray Shores PUD Home Owners Association.

Situated between the Currituck Sound and the Atlantic Ocean, the community boasts a festive French Caribbean design philosophy, with an elegant and sophisticated architecture.

The distinctive natural environment of tree-lined lots and bordering wetlands has been preserved and incorporated into the lifestyle of our residents.

The majority of homes in our community are either second vacation homes or occupied year-round by permanent residents. There are also over 100 homes in the community that are available for rent through either local rental companies or VRBO or Airbnb. The result: a casual, luxury, coastal neighborhood feel with a vacation atmosphere.

We can enjoy the beauty of Monteray Shores year-round, but we are proud to share it with our visitors and guests!
